Nov 25: Do you remember, back when the temperatures were much higher than they are today, that John Driver led our Three Counties team to the second place in Division 2 and thus got ABC promoted to Division 1 next year? Well, John couldn't be there, but our President and many of the 3C players, plus their other halves, went to the annual dinner to receive the runner-up trophy, which will no doubt be gracing the bar next season. Photos can be accessed here, 2017 Photogallery - 3 Counties Dinner & Presentation

Nov 17: The AGM was well attended, the president outlined the events of the season, thanking John & Wanda for their sterling work at the bar, the league captains and their helpers and the members who supported them. It was followed by the presentation of the Competition Trophies, the past president badges and flowers to Pam (Treasurer) and Katherine (Fixture Sec & website) for their work over the past year. July 31: Sadly, Eric's run in the Whitchurch Novice Singles came to an end on Monday, as he lost to the England indoor bowls U-25 ladies team member, Nicole Rogers from Oakley.
July 30: Bernard did us proud with his President's Day. We started off with a spoon drive, ably organised by Brian, two rinks of triples and two of pairs, where everyone picked their position out of a box and played 4 games of 4 ends. This resulted in a shoot-out between the tied winners, Dave Sims and Terri Beech and Terri was victorious with a shot practically on the jack, with Dave just millimetres behind. Everyone piled onto the green for a spider - Dave won that!- in aid of Treloars. Then we got down to business with a hog-roast which had been tickling our taste-buds all afternoon, with side salads galore and then super puds and cheese, for those who still had room, supplied by Linda and her helpers. The raffle followed and yours-truly won a bowls polishing cloth as the very last prize. I counted 4 past-presidents and we had lots of spouses, children and other guests, including Reg Tricky, who was a former member of the club and featured in one of the photos adorning the walls. It was a blessing that the weather was kind to us, even if the green started off somewhat heavy after all the rain we've had. Photos of the day, courtesy of Brian and Matt (in no particular order) can be found here. 2017 President's Day
July 23: Sandy and Gerry from Bourne Bowls Club won this year's Husband and Wife Tournament. We dodged most of the showers, although had to play in our wets most of the day, but were rewarded with a super lunch and tea supplied by Janet, James and all their helpers and contributors - thank you! Thanks are mainly due to the stars of the show, Brian and Sheila; that was their 24th Tournament. We are all looking forward to the silver anniversary next year! April 15: Lots of members came to the Opening Day on Easter Saturday, anxious to try out their skills on the outdoor green and see if they could reach the far end, or even half-way! Thanks to the efforts of the magnificent Green Team throughout the winter, the green played well, even if there wasn't any swing to the woods - or so it seemed to those of us who have been confined to the indoor club for the past seven months. We can't wait to get started on the new season of leagues, competitions and Friendlies - make sure your name is on the list. Have you spotted the brand-new sign at the entrance - thanks to Linda. Photos here 2017 Photogallery - Opening Day

April 2: There was a good turnout for the skittles this year and we all enjoyed the fun and the food.

Sept 23: We all think that Brian and theTeam have done a marvellous job making our green the best it's ever been and winning many compliments from visiting Clubs. However, it doesn't stop just because the season is over! Yesterday, we took delivery of a lorry-load of seaweed fertiliser and sand, as those who took part in the distribution of sacks around the rinks will testify (a big thankyou to all who helped). On Monday, weather permitting, it will all be spread over the green and the work will then continue, cutting, spiking, scarifying etc. over the winter to maintain and improve our facilities. These were divided into two leagues of six and each pair played the five other couples in their league on a Round Robin basis for six ends of 45 minutes. The two league winners and the runners up contested the semi-finals. As can be seen by the scores, the two semi-finals were very close, hard-fought affairs and even the final had some close heads. The extra experience or stamina of Rod and Shelagh Spencer told in the end.
· Semi - Finals:- Rod and Shelagh Spencer (Burpham - Surrey), beat Terry and Sue McCrossan (ABC) by 6 shots to 5. John and Christine Williams (ABC) beat Jerry and Sandy (The Bourne - Surrey) by 6 shots to 4.
