July 29:  Well, after weeks of sunshine, it rained and rained all day, but Bernard and Linda, with some fine planning, rescued President's Day by subjecting us to a very challenging quiz with lots of wonderful food, plenty to drink, a raffle and, of course, lots of chat. Well done, brilliantly organised, in spite of the weather it was a lovely day, enjoyed by us all.

June 8:  We had wonderful weather for James' Basingstoke & District Association President's Day. Visitors came from Thorneycroft, Kingsclere, AWRE, Andover, Alton Social, Whitchurch and Basingstoke Town and included the B&DA Chairman, plus three past Presidents. Bowls were played in a Friendly manner, rather than the usual competitive spirit of the league and Hants & Berks, then everyone was ready for a pint and the delicious hogroast, accompanied by a magnificent spread put on by Janet and helpers. Before that, however, the prize for the Spider, a bottle of whiskey, was won by one of the youngest present, Archie Blair. I hope his father gave him the £5 he promised him!!!
